Album of the month

Haven't posted in a while, apologies, have been a very busy student of late!

Anyway, heres a band that you may not have heard of - Etherwood.

If drum and bass is your kind of music then this band may have been on your radar, for me, their music is very chilled and the vocals certainly bring the soundtrack together. Begin by letting go is their big single so give it a listen and if you like it check out the album!

Album of the month

Another simply brilliant album from a band that I seem to mention far too much, but I think you may forgive me because, lets be honest, who doesn't like the Arctic Monkeys? AM is their newest album and with hits like Do I Wanna Know and Why'd You Only Call Me When I'm High, it is an absolute classic and tracks like R U Mine and One For The Road to back up the main feature songs are perfect. I've honestly had this album on repeat for some time and I seriously suggest you give it a listen if you haven't yet!

Song of the moment

This song of the moment is much slower and softer than previous, in my opinion it's R&B/Soul at its finest. 'Adorn' has a great beat, with smooth tones and quality vocals from Miguel, one remix has a decent rap section from Wiz Khalifa, this song is ultimate chill out music and I highly recommend it!

Song of the moment

This time it's a new song from Ellie Goulding with the re release of her album Halycon, and there's not much more to add to that, she has a great voice with a great sound to back it up... Great song!

Song of the moment

This song is the newest musical treat from a band that we all know and love, I haven't come across a person that doesn't love the Arctic Monkey's, or at least one of their classic tracks. Their latest tune is just another great guitar centred song to come from the Sheffield bred band, with Alex Turners vocals providing the perfect front for what I believe could become another Arctic Monkey classic alongside that of 'Mardy Bum' or 'Fluorescent Adolescent'...

Moneyball

I feel I've been neglecting films in my posts for this blog and as such, I thought I'd take the opportunity to talk about a film that is not perhaps as well known as some of the bigger blockbusters out in the film world. Moneyball is a film that is surrounded in the sport of Baseball - which initially put me off watching it as I'm not a fan myself. However, I soon came to realise that this film, with both Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill as the lead roles, has a strong endearing storyline of a small sport club making it big and this makes it so much more than a Baseball film. Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) is the manager of the Oakland A's and being a smaller team, every year they lose their best players and Beane wants to change the entire philosophy of his team so joins up with Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) to apply an entirely new perspective on the sport. There is also undercurrents of players and staff personal lives and how certain actions can affect any number of people, a very nice film made all the sweeter knowing it's based on a true story... Well worth giving it a watch in my opinion, give it a chance and soon you will find yourself backing the characters as much as I was at first viewing!

Album of the month

This month comes a compilation album from a Canadian artist who's music is chilled out, with soft and laid back vibes. If I had to compare him to someone it would be Frank Ocean, their voices complement the sounds tremendously, the album i'm talking about is Trilogy by The Weeknd and at this point i'll let the music do the talking with some of my favourites being "high for this", "Rolling Stone", and "D.D."

I highly recommend him and this album, so sit back and relax to this:
