Moneyball

I feel I've been neglecting films in my posts for this blog and as such, I thought I'd take the opportunity to talk about a film that is not perhaps as well known as some of the bigger blockbusters out in the film world. Moneyball is a film that is surrounded in the sport of Baseball - which initially put me off watching it as I'm not a fan myself. However, I soon came to realise that this film, with both Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill as the lead roles, has a strong endearing storyline of a small sport club making it big and this makes it so much more than a Baseball film. Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) is the manager of the Oakland A's and being a smaller team, every year they lose their best players and Beane wants to change the entire philosophy of his team so joins up with Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) to apply an entirely new perspective on the sport. There is also undercurrents of players and staff personal lives and how certain actions can affect any number of people, a very nice film made all the sweeter knowing it's based on a true story... Well worth giving it a watch in my opinion, give it a chance and soon you will find yourself backing the characters as much as I was at first viewing!
